Andrew Butterworth

Senior Consultant (Pharmacy Sales & Finance)

Andrew is a Chartered Accountant with a broad experience in pharmacy, finance and mergers & acquisitions.  He has been instrumental in the rapid growth of two of the industry’s leading multiples and has led European wide seminars on acquisitions in the UK pharmacy market.

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1997 he joined Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance in Manchester where he worked in both a lead advisory and due diligence capacity on a wide range of corporate transactions including acquisitions, disposals, management buy outs, fund raising and valuations.

Since leaving public practice in 2001, he has worked exclusively in the pharmacy sector in both acquisitions and mainstream finance.

He joined Phoenix Medical Supplies Limited in 2001 where, in addition to working on acquisitions for the wholesaling division of the business, he drove the expansion of the Rowlands Pharmacy chain from 235 to 385 branches completing over 77 separate transactions in a 5 year period. He was responsible for the end to end delivery of acquisition targets including site appraisal, competitor analysis, valuations, negotiations of heads of terms, funding and working closely with various legal firms coordinating legal process. He also oversaw the negotiation and agreement of completion accounts with Vendors accountants.

In 2006 Andrew left Phoneix to join the board of Assura Pharmacy Limited where he worked as Finance Director and was instrumental in the development of the Assura Pharmacy chain from a standing start to 38 branches in three years.

In 2010 Andrew joined APM Healthcare as the lead consultant, managing pharmacy business sales and pharmacy finance consulting services for multiple and independent pharmacy business clients.
